Tom Fletcher Named Associate Member of the American Society of Cinematographers

HTML clipboardCHICAGO, Illinois - Fletcher Chicago announces that Tom Fletcher, Owner and VP of Marketing for Fletcher Camera has been accepted as an Associate Member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC).
The ASC is the oldest motion-picture society in the world and is considered the most highly respected educational, cultural and professional organization in the film industry. Membership into the ASC is a "mark of honor and distinction based on merit" and is possible by invitation only. Associate members are invited to join based on their significant contributions to the art and craft of motion pictures. Today the ASC has more than 340 active and associate members. Fletcher was nominated by Robert Primes, ASC, and George Spiro Dibie, ASC, due to his contributions through Fletcher Camera, his equipment rental company that according to Primes is, “a model of quality, service and integrity.” “Our best associate members are those who love the art form more than the bottom line,” says Primes, ASC. “Tom’s personal warmth, energy and tireless dedication to giving cinematographers the best possible support have convinced me that he will be an active and invaluable member of the ASC.” With the majority of ASC members work out of either Los Angeles or New York, Fletcher is the only Associate Member that is based in Chicago. Other ASC members with ties to Chicago include, Steven Poster, ASC; Michael Goi; ASC; Bill Butler, ASC; Haskell Wexler ASC, and the late Victor Duncan, ASC. “Being invited to join the ASC is such an honor,” says Tom Fletcher. “It is a highlight in my career to be placed in the company of such esteemed artists and professionals.”
Tom Fletcher holds a BA in Communications with a Film/Photography Minor from the University of Illinois. He has been active in the industry since 1987, when he partnered with his father Archie Fletcher and opened Fletcher Camera, a film and video rental facility. Since that time, he has been instrumental in positioning Fletcher Camera as a production partner in cinematography equipment and education. Fletcher is also well known as a pioneering force in HD& Digital Cinema technology development and education, spearheading training symposiums and working closely with manufacturers like Sony, Arriflex, Panasonic, Fujinon and Zeiss to educate filmmakers across the US.
