FLETCHER CAMERA & LENSES

I'd like to thank you for the amazing opportunity you presented through Kodak and Fletcher Camera Rentals of Chicago for the Kodak Stop By and Shoot Film workshop. As a cinematography student, it was a prime opportunity not only to have a chance to shoot with Kodak's great 16mm stocks on the Arri 416 and Aaton XTR Prod, but also network with members at Astro Lab, Fletcher Chicago and Kodak.

Furthermore, I think a further testament to the quality of film was the fact that a majority of the members involved in the workshop came from the digital video world. By the end of the workshop, they were raving about the 7205's impressive latitude, color reproduction and grain structure. For me personally, the workshop enforced the fact that it's the glass you use, but more importantly, it's the emulsion that you place behind that glass that produces amazing images.

The follow up timing session in Astro's state of the art Digital Intermediate room proved to be the perfect conclusion to an amazing workshop. It was an amazing feeling sitting in the room where so many great DP's such as Wally Pfister, ASC sat to time films such as Dark Knight. This workshop was not only beneficial to the students who took part in it, but also in the Chicago Community as a whole, for it brought both groups together. I think that real sense of community between students and local filmmakers was something that was missing in Chicago up until this point, and this workshop made that collaboration possible.

As a cinematography student at Columbia College Chicago, I can tell you that there would be an invested interest from dedicated cinematography students in future workshops like this and even Kodak sponsored workshops featuring an ASC Cinematographer. This first workshop proved to be an excellent testing ground for more workshops to follow.

Again, I cannot thank you enough for the opportunities the Kodak Stop By and Look Workshop presented to me as a student. I truly consider the opportunity to participate in it as a gift. Furthermore, it proved to be a testament to the quality, durability and flexibility of working with Kodak Motion Picture Film.
