Ed Graduated from Columbia
College with a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Television Production in 1990. Ed spent his first six years
after graduation working at Victor Duncan Inc. as the Lead Film and Specialty
Camera technician. While working in the film department at Victor Duncan Ed
also apprenticed as a feature/ commercial camera assistant.
In 1991 Ed also began working part time as a member of the
Chicago White Sox scoreboard staff as a camera operator and instant replay
operator. When the United
Center opened it doors in
1994 Ed also joined the day-of-game scoreboard staff for the Chicago Bulls and
Blackhawk’s.
Upon accepting a position as the second member of Fletcher
Chicago’s Sports department in 1996 Ed helped grow the department from eight
robotic heads to the present day size of covering over a thousand shows per
year on both local and national levels. During the 2000 Summer Olympics Ed was
a member of the swimming and diving specialty camera crew. Ed has been a part
of inventing and implementing such robotic camera angles as the “Above the Rim”
for basketball and the “Redline Robotic” for hockey. Ed also helped to
implement robotic cameras and train camera operators for motor sports coverage
on NASCAR and NHRA drag racing.
Recent projects include the Extreme Replay system and the
Hi-Motion replay system.
Ed enjoys spending down time with his wife and three
